Abstract
The delivery of knowledge and skills such as critical thinking skills are constantly being reviewed and diversified in line with the global flow. A valid and reliable instrument is needed to measure precisely what characteristics of critical thinking skills are required in digital games. This study was conducted to validate the measurement model of critical thinking skills in digital games among students of educational programmes. A total of 200 students from a local university's educational programme in Malaysia were chosen to answer the instrument which consisted of 25 items based on the six constructs of critical thinking by Facione (1990); the interpretation, analysis, evaluation, inference, description, and self-discipline. The Structural Equation Model (SEM) method using AMOS software version 23 was used to test and estimate the empirical relationship between the constructs. The results of the model analysis showed that six factors were valid and reliable also acceptable based on the indicators suggested. The measurement model with 25 items developed was fungible and could measure precisely the factors of critical thinking skills in digital games. This study provides practical implications as a reference and guidance for prospective educators and educational organisations in educating the 21st century generation.
