Abstract

This article identifies the potential of East Borneo local aggregates as a material in producing pervious concrete. East Borneo has to import material from another island (Palu / Central Sulawesi), which ends up with a high price in the concrete unit. In addition, high population growth, continual urbanization, rapid infrastructure development have reduced the infiltration area. This problem increases surface runoff, which can involve flooding. Research on the potential of local aggregates for porous concrete materials needs to be carried to reduce this problem. In this study, several coarse aggregates in East Borneo were used: Senoni, Cermin, Suryanata, and Muara Asa aggregates. This material is compared with Palu aggregate, which currently use in East Borneo. The tests such as compressive strength, split tensile strength, and flexural strength were carried out. Results of this research show that the concrete performance varies widely amongst the different aggregates. The compressive strength, flexural strength, and split tensile strength values range from 9.06 MPa to 21.97 MPa, 1.99 MPa to 3.98 MPa, and 1.38 MPa to 2.95 MPa respectively. Overall, Senoni aggregate is found as the best quality compared to other local aggregates. This research provides an overview of East Borneo local materials as infrastructure development to reduce dependence on Palu materials.
