Abstract

The rural road development is always an important agenda in road management around the world. In Malaysia, rural road falls under the state road category and it contributes the largest proportion of road in Malaysia. Rural road is one the of the most effective approaches for local economy improvement, through the green practices to rural road it may also give positive impact to social, economy and environmental of the surrounding areas. The management and maintenance of rural road in Malaysia is very much important as it contributes in many ways to the rural people in Malaysia. In this paper, it discusses the important of rural road to socio-economics and benefits of green practices implementation to rural access. This again contributes to positive development of green rural road. Based on the review, the need for well-developed rural access to support socioeconomic development for rural communities and the implementation of green rural road will balance the three vital elements; social, economic and also environment.
