Abstract
Games approach in Jawi lessons seemed relevant and it is very close to the soul as well as becomes the nature of children. Lessons based on games can become a medium to help optimise the acquisition of knowledge and Jawi skills among students and serve as a tool for an effective teaching. However, studies have found that learning activities through games often receive negative perception from the public, even the teachers are also facing various constraints to apply this approach in their teaching. Therefore, this study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of games approach in producing an effective Jawi lessons based on the examples of games on Jawi that have been recommended by the Ministry of Education. The methodologies used in this study are literature review and document analysis. References from scientific journals, research reports and related theses were used to gather information about the concept and approach of games from Islamic perspectives, the types of Jawi games and the effectiveness of Jawi games in producing an effective Jawi lessons. According to the study, the findings show that the games approach applied in the teaching and learning process managed to produce an effective Jawi lessons among teachers and improve students’ proficiency in Jawi. In summary, it can be concluded that games approach is very effective to improve the effectiveness of teaching, especially in Jawi lessons.
