Abstract
The increasing number of publications on spirituality has led to various concepts of spiritual leadership. To date, there are several concepts or theories on spiritual leadership from western perspectives. The rapid growing on this topic has created a gap between western and Islamic perspectives because of different views. Most of the western concepts have been developed based on personal interest and favoritism to their own religion such as Christianity, Buddha, and Hindu. As a result, some of the concepts are not suitable in terms of religious teaching when comparing to Islamic perceptive. Secondly, there are many researches on spiritual leadership from western perspective but there is still lack of spiritual leadership concepts especially from the view of Islamic perspective. Therefore, the purpose of this article is to conceptualize the concept of spiritual leadership from Islamic perspective. Firstly, this article discussed the development of concept definition of Islamic Spiritual Leadership. Secondly, this article discussed the development of Islamic Spiritual Leadership (ISL) scale.
