Abstract
The morphology of freeze-dried Averrhoa bilimbi clearly shows that it possesses hierarchically structure pores. Therefore by impregnation of TiO2 into freeze-dried Averrhoa bilimbi which acted as the porous support, hierarchically porous catalyst was synthesized. The catalyst was then characterized by diffuse reflectance UV-Vis (DR UV-Vis), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Hierarchically porous TiO2/freeze-dried Averrhoa bilimbi catalyst was then tested for the oxidation of styrene. Analysis from Gas Chromatography (GC) proved that the TiO2/freeze-dried Averrhoa bilimbi catalyst improved the conversion and the selectivity of styrene oxide compare to TiO2 catalyst.
