Abstract

The purpose of this study is to identify the effect of personality types to moderate the relationship of employees’ emotional quotient on safety culture in Syarikat Air Terengganu, Kuala Terengganu (SATU KT). 158 technical employees from SATU KT have been chosen as the respondents for this study. The data are collected by using a set of questionnaire which consists of four parts namely part A (Demography), part B (Emotional Quotient), part C (Personality Types), and part D (Safety Culture). The measurement tools undertaken in the data collection included Emotional Intelligence Scales (EIS), Big Five Inventory (BFI) and Safety Climate Questionnaire (SCQ). Then, the collected data have been analyzed by using descriptive statistic (mean and percentages) and inferential statistic (simple linear regression and hierarchical regression). The finding reveals that the level of employees’ emotional quotient and safety culture are at high level. Besides, the results also show that there is a significant effect of employees' emotional quotient on safety culture in SATU KT. The result also demonstrates that personality types are not play as a moderator to the relationship between employees' emotional quotient on safety culture. Lastly, some suggestions have been given to the future research, SATU KT as well as technical employees in SATU KT
