Abstract

Now days industry link among vocational training institutes with industry are need in helping this country produce qualities workers. The purpose of this study was to identify the needed of vocational training institutes (community college) from the industry, to identify the needed that the industry give to the vocational training institutes and also to identify the implementation strategies in build the industry link. Four research questions were formulated. The samples consisted of hundred and twenty (120) teaching staff from vocational training institutes and one hundred and thirteen (113) from automotive industry commercial employers. This researcher used all the population of the teaching staff from vocational training institutes. While for the automotive industry commercial employers there were selected based on a random sampling technique. The data was obtained by questionnaires. Two sets of questionnaires with different contents are given to the respondents. The data from the research were analyzed using SPSS (Statistical Package For Social Science) version 14.0. The data were obtained were then analyzed by means of descriptive data. The means, standard deviations and ranks were used to report descriptive data. The study found that the needed that the vocational training need from the industry is allocation for the student in industrial training, curriculum discussion, financial support, allocation industrial specialists in vocational training institutes to increase the quality of teaching and learning and allocation the teaching staff from the vocational training in the industry for having skills retraining. At the side of the industry, the research found that the cooperation that they give to the vocational training institute is giving place for the students for having their industrial training, become a mentor for the student, inform to the vocational institutes about the latest technology and their needs, approving the application from the teaching staff from the vocational training to make skills retraining in their industry and the industry also joining the training institutes activities like career days, mock interview and others. The research found that the most important collaboration in having cooperation among the vocational institutes and industry is in build up the curriculum and education and training programs. For the implementation strategies among the vocational training institutes and industry, all the respondents give their tendency to industrial visit programs, allocation student in the industry for industrial training, giving tax excuse to the industry which sponsors the teaching staff from the vocational training attending skills retraining and sharing the information and technologies.
