Abstract
This paper provides a step-by-step explanation on how to develop a specialised corpus for MH370 and MH17 aviation disaster news discourse from countries affected by the disasters. The corpus is developed using online English news articles from Malaysia, China and the Netherlands. One of the objectives of this paper is to help other graduate students and novice researchers on guided steps in corpus development for corpus-based linguistics analysis. The focus of this paper is on the development of corpus in the aviation disasters news discourse. The detailed procedure includes three basic stages in forming specialised corpus. It is hoped that this procedure would be able to contribute to the basic understanding of corpus linguistics field, especially for novice researchers who wish to compile and develop their corpus using online materials.
