Abstract
Breast cancer is one of the highest risk illness among women in Malaysia. This illness causes devastating physical effects on patients and even affects their lives emotionally and mentally. Most patients will undoubtedly suffer prolonged stress throughout treatment and in their daily lives. Generally, stress is an emotional strain felt by a person which makes it impossible to live a normal life. Every year there is a rise in stress amongst Malaysians as well as cancer patients. Most people find it difficult in controlling and managing stress. The condition is worse when faced with various other problems and lack of emotional support. If the matter is not overcome, stress can lead to mental disorder. This study is a qualitative descriptive analysis study that aims to identify the effects of stress on cancer patients from an Islamic perspective. The findings of this study show that from an Islamic perspective, the effects of stress on cancer patients are emotional weakness, spiritual weakness, desire influences and mental weakness. Therefore, attention should be given to stress suffered by breast cancer patients to help them become more resilient and patient in facing the illness.
