Abstract
The data generation globally is exponential and is due to the emerging technologies such as Cloud Computing and IoT. Mobile communication has been around since 1990s and the amount of data especially unstructured has been produced without hesitation. Nowadays, the industry is taking advantage of these factors and seeking to analyze the data for business improvements and customer satisfaction. Telecommunication industry is the champion in ownership of individual personal data as they have the volume of data detailing human activities and behaviour. Unfortunately, this industry has not fully deployed big data analytics technology to succeed in customer data analysis. There are limitations and challenges that they faced in each region especially on ethical and privacy issues. In this exploratory study, it will analyze the types of data obtained and the tools that can effectively analyze the data, further described the challenges and limitations of data analytics in perspective of privacy, security and regional data governance acts.
