Abstract
This paper describes a general method to design reader loop antennas for reduced distance-sensitivity in High Frequency Radio Frequency Identification (HF-RFID) links. The method determines an appropriate average radius of reverse-current turns to be incorporated in a loop antenna, in order to limit the increase of mutual inductance as antenna pairs are brought closer together. The application of the method in a design scenario reduces the variation ratio in link transfer efficiency from 0.57 to 0.28. The results show a potential for applying the proposed method to implement stable wireless power transfer (WPT) links using HF-RFID infrastructure.
