Abstract
This paper presents the proposed model and simulation of a DC to DC converter use an active snubber circuit and maximum power point tracking (MPPT) using fuzzy logic controller (FLC) for a standalone Photovoltaic (PV) System. The function of the circuit is to minimize power losses during switching operation and to improve efficiency of voltage conversion. FLC is used for tracking the maximum power point of the PV array. It will control the ON/OFF time by generating the pulse width modulation (PWM) to trigger the gate of the IGBT. The proposed DC to DC converter is designed by using the Multisim software while the MPPT controller is modelled using the Matlab Simulink software. The performance of the proposed model is tested using simulation and the result show that our proposed converter can produce 130% increasing on output voltage. By using the fuzzy logic method to track the maximum power of the PV array, it is faster and the voltage is stable.
