Abstract
Extraction of noun phrase is one of the most critical components of natural language processing. Because, in any information retrieval systems, their primary source of entity identification relies on base-noun phrase. In this paper, Myanmar noun phrase extraction system using maximum matching approach is proposed and evaluated. Predefined Noun Phrase Structure Rules in Context Free Grammar are used in this system. Myanmar Noun phrases are extracted from POS tagged Myanmar sentences by matching the Part of Speech Tags of input sentence to the predefined Noun Phrase Structure Rules in Context Free Grammar. According to the results, the proposed system produced the high accuracy in Precision, Recall and F-measure respectively.
