The heat transfer characteristics and performance of alumina-water nanofluid flow in a channel with heated cavity are studied numerically. The double distribution function thermal lattice Boltzmann model is applied due to its simplicity and highly stable numerical scheme. The effects of Grashof number variation in different aspect ratio of cavity and volume fraction of nano-particles on the heat transfer characteristics and performance is considered. It was found from the obtained results that the average Nusselt number increased with increase in Grashof number and volume fraction of Al2O3 nanoparticles regardless aspect ratio of the cavity. Moreover the obtained results showed that the rate of heat transfer increased with increase in nanoparticles volume fraction.
