Abstract
Several studies have been conducted on E-commerce adoption but not yet in the case of Zanzibar. The objectives of this study are to identify factors of E-Commerce adoption and to develop a framework of E-commerce adoption in the case of Zanzibar. The study uses several variables in the form of Barriers, Top Management support, Education and Awareness, Business type, Role of Government, Buyer/supplier pressure and Technology support within Technological Organization and Environment (TOE) framework to assess E-commerce adoption behavior. A questionnaire based survey was conducted to collect data from 62 respondents in Zanzibar Town, the data were analyzed and seven hypotheses were tested. The hypothesis testing indicates that Barriers of E-commerce, Educational and Awareness, Top Management support and Technological support infrastructure have significant effect on E-commerce adoption. The finding will be useful for Government, Business Association and other who can utilize the proposed framework for a successful E-commerce adoption.
