Abstract

This study considers mastercam simulation and genetic algorithm optimization to estimate a minimum processing time value of liquid crystal display monitor hinge in two-dimensional (2D) contouring machining. Regression model is developed to formulate the fitness function equation of GA optimization. This study found that GA is capable to estimate the optimal cutting conditions value to minimize the processing time. With high feed rate, high spindle speed rate, high pitch rate and low pull rate of the machining parameter, GA recommended 349.3916 seconds as the minimum processing time. Consequently, GA has reduced the minimum processing time of mastercam simulation by about 6.58%.
