Abstract
The catalytic activity of prepared catalyst by sol gel method of 60Ni-40Ln (Ln= La 3+ , Ce 3+ , P r 3+ , Nd 3+ , Sm 3+ , G d 3+ ) has been investigated for methanation of CO2/.H2 to form CH 4 . The results obtained concluded that the NiO/Pr 2 O 3 (6 0:40) catalyst shows the highest activity, with 100% methanation at 300oC. The result corresponds to the presence of higher specific surface area of NiO/Pr 2 O 3 catalyst. The XRD analysis showed that this catalyst has some degree of amorphous properties and the existence of individual phases of cubic NiO and cubic Pr 2O3 in the catalyst system , which most probably act as active site for CO2/H2 methanation. The complimentary results obtained from SEM showed the presents of homogeneous smaller particle size, which support the good performance of NiO/Pr 2O3 catalyst towards CO 2 /H 2 methanation.
