Abstract

This research aims to explore the capabilities of school leaders in bringing changes to the school. Specifically, this research would like to study the headmasters’ capability to bring change to the school. Rapid changes in the development of education in Malaysia claim to the headmasters as leaders in schools to be sensitive to changes. Headmasters also need to take into account at the needs of the school and plan changes appropriately. The capability of school leaders in bringing about changes in schools provide an overview of the schools’ ability to face the challenges in the education world today besides fulfilling desire of the Ministry of Education (MOE). This research has been conducted in a number of primary schools in Pontian. This research is in the form qualitative (case study) proceedings of the interview approach. Six headmasters in some primary schools in Pontian were selected in conducting this research. From interviews and document analysis, found that headmaster can make a difference in school because they understand the need for change in schools. Researcher also found that headmasters have a clear vision to bring changes and capable of providing the work force to help them carry out change efforts.
