Abstract

Managing environment for social interaction and collaboration is essential for knowledge sharing practices. This paper highlights the organizational issues in knowledge sharing, particularly work environment, social interaction and superior support. The context of this study is limited to the Malaysian Public Universities (MPU). First, the study investigates the level of knowledge sharing practices and the level of organizational factors. Second, the study tries to determine the relationship between organizational factors and knowledge sharing practices. Questionnaires were e-mailed to academic staffs in 20 universities. A total of 725 academic staffs responded to the questionnaires. Statistical analyses show that knowledge sharing level is moderately practiced by academic staffs. The relationships between organizational factors and knowledge sharing practices show high correlation which is r=0.819, p=0.000.
