Abstract
A numerical technique to predict channel flow with semi-circular cavity is presented. The method is based on improved finite difference scheme to achieve higher order of accuracy in space. After a description of the simulation principle, we examine the structure of vortices inside the cavity located on the channel floor. As a test case, a horizontal pipe with semi-circular cavity was investigated at wide range of Reynolds numbers. Results concerning the flow behavior are presented. Comparisons are made in terms of streamlines plots at each Reynolds numbers, revealing that the structure of vortices significantly dependence on the dimensionless parameter of Reynolds numbers.
