Abstract
Internet Search Engines provide a lot of information to users to search information ona variety of topics. Unfortunately, majority of Internet Search Engines do not have the capabilityto filter information that are categorized as non-halal and also to satisfy the requirements of thesearch in terms of usability, visuals, accessibility, results, precision and reliability. Certaingovernment had imposed regulation to prohibit theirs citizen from visiting pornographic sites dueto the ineffectiveness of the filtering features provided by Yahoo!, Google, MSN and othersearch engines. The purpose of this study is to review some research work relating to searchengine filtering systems that may be suitable to be applied to filter some Malay keywords that donot comply with the Islamic principles.
