Abstract

The name Ainuddin Abdul Wahid is certainly synonymous with Universiti Teknologi Malaysia. He was the first Malay to be given the huge responsibility of leading this historical institution of higher learning. Under his leadership, Maktab Teknik transformed and morphed into a leading university in Malaysia. Through his guidance UTM has been instrumental in producing thousands of Bumiputra professionals in the field of science and engineering. As an eminent educationist in the country, he has succeeded in contributing ideas into concrete realizations of the New Economic Policy, proving that the Bumiputras are equally capable and competent as other races.
