Abstract
Motion sickness (MS) is an unpleasant sensation such as headache and nausea which occurs during travelling by vehicle. Extensive studies had been carried out regarding the factor and the mitigation methods of MS, especially for the vehicle’s passengers. Nowadays, a revolution from the automotive industry resulting from the development of the autonomous vehicles. One of the key concerns in autonomous vehicle research is that its possibility to have a higher chance to contribute to MS among the occupants compared to the conventional vehicle. Hence, this paper presents reviews on the MS reduction methods, focusing on the application towards the autonomous vehicle. Considering the importance of MS reduction in improving the occupant’s comfort level, it is concluded that this issue requires more attention among autonomous vehicle researchers.
