Abstract

The adaptation of cloud computing delivers many benefits to users and organisations, whether business, private or public sector. In Malaysia, the government has launched cloud-based services to centralise the medium of communication between public sector agencies to improve the quality of services and information delivery to the people. However, since its launch, reports have shown that the use of the service is unsatisfactory due to users not using it and not being ready to use it. Therefore, a study was conducted to assess the acceptance of cloud computing among public sector users. This study aimed to test the factors influencing users' acceptance and how technology readiness factors determine their cloud computing acceptance by integrating the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology model and the Technology Readiness Index. The PLS-SEM analysis found that technology readiness factors greatly influence the acceptance of cloud computing. In addition, performance expectancy, compatibility, security, mobility, and social influence significantly impact the acceptance of cloud computing. In summary, technological readiness greatly helps users accept and use new technologies. The contribution of this study is through a research model which proves that readiness technology must be in line with acceptance technology to determine the success of the technology implementation.
