Abstract
Hub motor technology has piqued researchers' interest in now a days on account of the multiple benefits it provides. Nevertheless, because the straight connection of the hub motor to the wheels can upshot in developing the vehicle's unsprung weight, this increase in unsprung weight has become one of the important studies in the field of electric vehicles. In this article, a quarter car suspension system was investigated to see how the weight of the hub motor affected the car's performance, passenger comfort, and road holding, then the results compared with the use of standard wheels. In this work, one of the well-known control methods was used, which is the Neural Network-Based Control. The simulation results showed that the increase in wheel mass due to the addition of a hub motor had a small negative effect on the performance of the car suspension system.
