Abstract

Photoperiod is the most important pathway that influences flowering in Arabidopsis to regulate CONSTANS (CO) under long day to activate FLOWERING LOCUS T (FT) in order to promote flowering at the shoot apex. A study to generate an inventory of Arabidopsis phloem sap proteome using LC-MS/MS produces over 8000 peptides from the MS/MS spectra. A search against MASCOT for Arabidopsis thaliana was carried out and a minimum score value of 55 and above with at least one unique peptide was applied where more than 100 proteins were found. Further categorization of the proteins into known and unknown protein based on a match against phloem sap protein database uncovers a wide range of unknown and possibly new phloem proteins. This is a preliminary study to generate and analyze Arabidopsis phloem sap proteome to provide essential data resource for future study.
