Abstract

Structural integrity of offshore platforms is affected by degradation issue such as subsidence. The wave-in-deck load can cause significant damage to deck structures that may result in the collapse of an entire platform. A parametric study on base shear and reserve strength ratio have been performed to investigate the impact of wave-in-deck load on structure response of a fixed offshore platform located at Malaysian water. The conventional run of pushover analysis only considers a 100-year design crest height for the ultimate collapse. This study was carried out to quantify the wave-in-deck load effects based on the revised RSR due to changes of Hmax and current speed. As expected, for the case where there is no wave-in-deck, the RSR becomes lower with the increase of the maximum wave height and the current speed. The outcomes of this study will assist the operators in the industry in their decision-making.
