Abstract
A literature survey regarding the dynamic mathematical model of the activated sludgeprocess based on IWA's ASM1 (International Water Association; Activated SludgeModel No 1) has been established. It has been discussed that the microbial kineticsmodel is based on the ASM1 structure, modified to include dissolve oxygen (DO) andoxygen uptake rate (OUR). It has been shown through literature that parameter valuesare based on the typical influent and effluent water quality indices, and operationalconditions in Malaysia. OUR and DO profiles are analyzed in various literatures indetail, for the efficacy of DO control system in terms of energy savings and effluentqualities.
