Abstract

The use of Web 2.0 in education is evolving with the diversity of Web 2.0 applications provided to assist teaching and learning. This study aims to design learning portals for courses under the general subjects (MPU), the Islamic Communication and Broadcasting (DUA6022) Polytechnic Malaysia. This portal combines Web 2.0 applications to make the learning process more meaningful. This learning portal development process is adapted from the ADDIE Model's teaching design model that contains five phases namely Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation and Evaluation. In addition, the theory of learning is applied, namely constructivism theory, behavorism and cognitivism. To evaluate the usability of this learning portal, quantitative methods using questionnaires were used to evaluate aspects of the interface, content organization, multimedia, and portability of the portal. A total of 54 students were involved in evaluating the usability of the portal. The data obtained were analyzed descriptively using Statistical Packages for Social Sciences (IBM SPSS Statistics 20.0). The findings show that the four aspects that are assessed successfully implemented in the developed portal, are based on the mean mean for each aspect to achieve at a high level (min> 4.32). The conclusion is that the development of this learning portal has been successfully developed and practically passed the standard level of development of a learning system. Thus, this developed portal can be used in teaching and learning for Islamic Communications and Broadcasting (DUA6022) courses at Malaysian Polytechnic.
