Abstract

Reciprocal peer tutoring approach is increasingly being used to support cooperative learning and critical thinking in higher educations. Nurturing critical thinking skills is crucial among higher education students and educators have continued to emphasis on the development of students’ critical thinking especially in higher education. Concurrent with the rapidly growing online technology nowadays, developing students’ critical thinking can be done in online medium such as social networking site, Facebook. Normally, reciprocal peer tutoring approach was used in traditional classrooms and recently shifted to the online environment. The popular and trendy online platform such as Facebook can be used to increase college student engagement and to improve educational outcomes. This article presents the teaching methods and the design of online activities which comprises the principles and methods used for instruction to be implemented by teachers to promote students’ critical thinking using Facebook as platform for learning.
