Abstract

Spectroscopic CO2 sensor using integrating sphere is designed specifically for industrial welding application simulated using ZEMAX®12. Diameter used for the integrating sphere is 2 inch equivalent to 50.8 mm. By using LED as an emitter and photodiode as a detector, CO2 is detected at 4.2 µm which is infrared region. For CO2 sensor using integrating sphere for industrial welding application, to design an optimized integrating sphere, the optical path length for 40% of CO2 is 40.71cm, the attenuation coefficient is 0.00475 and multiplier is 11.75 by using integrating sphere theory and Beer-Lambert law.
