Abstract

This study has been conducted to identify the readiness of the students in Faculty of Education, UTM towards the realization of Dasar Pendidikan Negara (DPK) and Pelan Pembangunan Pendidikan Malaysia (PPPM) 2013-2025 in ICT. There are several challenges that have been identified in the implementation of DPK and PPPM 2013-2025. One of them is on the lacking usage of computer in teaching and learning. Other challenges such as the negative attitudes of teachers and low level of knowledge of the future teachers will give impact to the realization of the government’s initiatives. Therefore, the factors lead to the effectiveness of ICT usage in teaching and learning process has been investigated. Descriptive survey method was used and questionnaires were distributed to respondents manually and through electronic medium (online). The variables that have been investigated in this study were the level of knowledge, skills in using ICT, level of knowledge of DPK and PPPM2013-2025 and also attitudes, readiness, requirement needed in order to be a good teacher. Tha value for the realibility test that gathered in this research for the Alpha Cronbach is 0.87. Overall, from the findings, the study shows that the high score of mean has been gathered for all research questions that have been investigated. Thus, this shows that the students in Faculty of Education, UTM is ready to be a good teacher and eventually give high chance in the process of realizing DPK and PPPM 2013-2025.
