Abstract
The rocket research program began in UTM in 1989 with the aim of producing suitable rocket vehicles for Malaysian civilian application. This paper highlights some of the experiences gained by UTM in developing its indigenous rockets. With no design and fabricating experience prior to 1989 the project has since produced several positive results including the development of testing facilities, safety procedures and most important the rocket motor itself. Experiences such as selecting and designing different types of rocket motors, and fabricating them locally, producing its own propellants and developing the required testing facilities are among the topics discussed
