Abstract

Efficient thermal simulation algorithm is critical in producing an accurate temperature behavior’s prediction of a multilayered fullchip system. The visualization of the temperature behavior for the full-chip involves a large scale computational complexity. Due to this difficulty, we propose the development of mathematical simulation based on elliptic equation of partial differential equation. Our research will be focused on the high efficient thermal simulation algorithm with a combination of Discrete Cosine Transform (DCT), Green Function method and the frequency domain computations (Y.Zhan and S.S Sapatnekar, 2005). Two-dimensional DCT (2D DCT) will be use to obtain the frequency domain representation of the power density visualization and this follows by calculating the frequency domain representation of the temperature profile. Finally, a two-dimensional inverse DCT (2D IDCT) is use to obtain the temperature profile from its frequency domain representation. The prototype of the sequential algorithm is executed on Linux operating system using C language.
