Abstract
Underwater networks consist of multiple sensor nodes and autonomous underwater vehicles (AUV’s) that work in collaboration to gather useful information in harsh environment. However, some applications are delay sensitive while other require delay tolerant behavior. In this paper, we therefore discuss and critically analyze the strength and weaknesses of such different underwater protocols and further highlight their requirements. We come out with new Distance based Reliable and Energy Efficient (DREE) as one of delay sensitive routing protocol and discuss the performance evaluation of all these protocols to verify the theoretical behavior.
