The rheological behaviour of the rice husk-HDPE composite was determined using the melt flow indexer. Four sizes of rice husk filler have been classified by SEM micrographs and compounded with HDPE. The compounded samples were then tested according to ASTM standard to determine the melt flow rate or melt index. Melt density, shear rate, shear stress and apparent viscosity of the compounds were also obtained from the test. The melt index of the composite compound at lower filler loading decrease by increasing the size of filler while at higher filler loading, the melt index of the materials increase slightly by increasing the particle size. The pseudo plastic behaviour materials have been demonstrated by the shear stress against shear rate graphs. The higher shear stress at the lower rate of shear results to higher apparent viscosity. The apparent viscosity of the RHPE compounds increase by the addition of filler content and the finer size of the filler particles gives the higher apparent viscosity value at maximum loading.
