Abstract
In this study, DCPD (Brushite, CaHPO4.2H2O) coatings were prepared on the surface of a Mg-Ca-Zn alloy using different current density (0.15-1.2 mA/cm2) and deposition time (5-90 min). The results revealed that DCPD with needle-like morphology was observed for the current density between 0.15 and 0.4 mA/cm2, whereas plate-like morphology was obtained at current density above 0.8 mA/cm2. The results showed that surface roughness increased with increasing current density. The lowest corrosion rate of 0.14 mm/year was obtained for the dense and uniform DCPD coating at 0.4 mA/cm2, while further increase has deleterious effect on the corrosion resistance.
