Abstract

This study aimed to investigate the relationship between job-related stress factors and job performance among traffic police personnel in Iskandar Malaysia, Johor. The overall population of 246 personnels whose working at Traffic Police Department in Iskandar Malaysia, Johor were chosen as the samples of this study. Each one of them already been given one set of questionnaires but only 181 sets were returned back within the stated time frame. Research instrument were developed according to the effect of demographic factors on job-related stress and the relationships between six factors of job-related stress as the study independent variables and three elements of job performance which used as the study dependent variables. The question used derived from the combination of various studies on job stress for the independent variables and sets of questionnaire from previous performance studies for the dependent variables. One-way ANOVA analysis used to investigate the effect of demographic factors on job-related stress. Spearman correlation used as a tool of the investigation on the relationships between job-related stress factors and job performance. Multiple regression analysis used to research the most dominant job-related stress factors on job performance. As the results, all the job-related stress factors and job performance showed very high level.of mean value. The research also recovers only marital status factor from six other demographic factors affected the job-related stress. For the relationship between both variables, the research recovers that all relationships were positive and the organisation supports as the most dominant job-related stress factor that affected the job performance of Traffic Department personnels in Iskandar Malaysia, Johor.
