Abstract

This study was conducted to determine the level of competency of officers and members of the police and their relationship with management to address crime in the District Police Headquarters Kulaijaya . A total of 177 respondents were population studies have been made of subject study . There are five objectives of the study is to identify the level of competency of the respondents , the extent of management (planning, organizing , leading, controlling ) to address crime in IPD Kulaijaya , identify the relationship between demographic factors ( gender , age , academic qualifications , rank , and years of service ) competency level police officers and members , identify the relationship between the level of competency of the staff and officers with management functions , and the final objective to identify management function that influences the level of competency of the staff and officers at police headquarters Kulaijaya . Management is the independent variable, where else the dependent variable was competence . The results were analyzed using the software Statistical Package For Social Science ( SPSS ) version 16.0 . The analysis was conducted Range Mean scores , t-tests , ANOVA , Linear Regression Analysis and Multiple Regression Analysis . Competency level police officers and members of the IPD Kulaijaya is a high level with human relationships and the individual is at the highest level . Management level to crime prevention is also high. Analysis of t-test and ANOVA at the conclusion that gender, age , and length of service has no relevance to the competency . Meanwhile , rank and academic qualifications have a significant relationship with the level of competence . Linear Regression Test of relationship management competencies shows that relations between the two variables is significant. Lastly, multiple regression analysis found that the most influential management function is to manage competency followed by control functions , leadership and planning.
