Abstract
This paper describes the performance of the resonant buck converter battery charger using soft switching, which has been seen as a good and convincing solution for switched mode electronic power converter. The switching frequency of the power semiconductor devices has been increased in order to decrease the losses and the stress of the switching. As a result of that, the efficiency and the reliability of the buck converter obviously increased. The proposed charger circuits with both zero voltage switching and zero current switching were analyzed and tested using MATLAB-SIMULINK software for a 12V 4 Ah lead acid battery. The structure of the proposed circuits does not require complex control mechanisms and a large number of components.
