Abstract

Increasingly, education is becoming more internationalised and this brings the need for faculty to understand and interpret the education systems in different countries. In this paper, consideration is given to the teaching and learning of electronic engineering within two universities which are located in different regions worldwide, and a comparison of the teaching and learning in both institutions is provided. The first institution, the University of Limerick (UL), is based in the Republic of Ireland and is part of the wider European Higher Education area. The second institution, the Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), is based in Malaysia. Consideration is given to six chosen areas of common importance to both institutions and these areas are compared. The considerations are confined in this paper to undergraduate programmes.
