Abstract

Construction industry is one of driving force of nations' economy. But, the industry's total energy and resource consumption and carbon emission is raising a growing concern regarding construction industry among experts and stake holders. Consequently, enormous changes have taken place among the architectural/engineering professions over the last decade in the promotion of environmentally responsible buildings. In this regard, application of soft wares have revolutionized and optimized construction industry. One of the recent innovations is Building Information Modelling (BIM) which has received tremendous interest for its impact on sustainable development and provides the opportunity to develop energy analysis software programs for the industry. This study more over the reviewing of literatures regarding green, sustainable construction and related soft wares, also tried to examine a case study by application of Autodesk Revit and Ecotect to reveal their role and contribution in steering construction toward Green and Sustainability.
