Kepentingan pengetahuan tacit dalam aktiviti penyelidikan dan penerbitan

Abstract

Research University is an institution that is concerned with the production of new research, develop and new knowledge and produce PhD holders from various fields of research. Since hold the status Research University, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia ( UTM ) has undertaken various initiatives and agenda to maintain the Research University (RU) status . One of the initiatives is each academic staff should achieve KPI targets set by top management. However, based on statistics, we have found that KPIs in the of scientific publication and citation did not achieve the targets. Therefore, in this research we propose a model of knowledge sharing that can help to increase the publication. Tacit knowledge which is involved experience, skills and ideas are very important in conducting research and publishing paper. In order to identify problems facing by academic staff in producing and publishing journal, we have conduct several interview sessions. From the interview result we have decided to focus on students as the main respondents because we had found from analysis that students have big contribution in publishing paper
