Abstract

This research was conducted to evaluate teacher's teaching and learning in the classroom at daily primary school around Kota Tinggi. The sample which was involved in this research was 270 teachers who were chosen through cluster random sampling. In addition, two headmasters, two senior assistants and two teachers were chosen specifically in order to collect qualitative data for this research. The realibility of the questionnaire was tested by using Cronbach Alpha coefficients where the value of the realibility is 0.831. The data were collected through questionnaires, interviews and document analysis. The questionnaire data were analyzed using Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) version 16.0 while qualitative data were analyzed based on the themes and conclusions. Analysis of survey data found that teachers perception (negative) of the monitoring process is moderate with score mean 3.53 in which there were five negative teachers perceptions towards monitoring teaching and learning. This research also found that all the recommendations to improve the monitoring process were all well received. The results also showed that 26.81 % of teachers were not monitored adequately twice in three years.
