Abstract

Accreditation of Malaysia skill certificates (SKM) through the recognition of prior achievement (PPT) conducted to skilled workers without formal training is to recognize the skill of employee including knowledge, experience and skills. Tenth Malaysia Plan (RMK-10) has intensified the accreditation to skilled workers without formal training aims to increase the number of skilled manpower to achieve a developed nation. Country requires not only skilled workers who qualified but expert them to be motivated to continue contributing towards productive outcomes to achieving that goal. This study aims to identify the effect of accreditation Malaysia skill certificate on job satisfaction among skilled workers without formal training in intrinsic and extrinsic aspects. This research is a qualitative case study. The sample of this study consists of six skilled workers without formal training who have Malaysia skill certificates (SKM) through the recognition of prior achievement only. Semi-structured interview protocol was used as the research instrument. Data were analyzed by using thematic analysis. The finding shows that the accreditation of Malaysia skills certificate affect job satisfaction towards aspect such as responsibility, achievement, relationship and job security while appreciation and salary aspect has cause less satisfied to employee. Implication and suggestion are included at the end of the report.
