Abstract
The Standard-Based Curriculum for Primary Schools (KSSR) is a transformation of the primary school curriculum which will replace the curriculum namely Integrated Curriculum for Primary Schools (KBSR). KSSR is being conducted for year 1 starting from 2011. The objective of this research is to study the readiness, teaching strategies and teaching methods of the Year 1 Islamic Education teachers in implementing the Standard-Based Curriculum for Primary Schools (KSSR) . The research sample is taken from 160 primary school teachers in Muar. Data collected through questionnaires were analyzed using SPSS for Windows (version 19.0) which involved descriptive statistics such as percentage and frequency. Inferential test One Way ANOVA is used to test the research hypotheses. The findings show high readiness level in the teaching and learning of Islamic Education KSSR Year One and there is no significant difference in the teachers readiness level based on teaching experience. In addition the study also showed that no significant difference in the teaching strategies based on professional qualification. While the teaching method that are mostly used by Islamic Education teachers in the teaching and learning for Standard-Based Curriculum for Primary Schools (KSSR) are drills, question and answer, discussion and storytelling.
