Abstract
The advantages of porous media such as a good insulation, light weight and excellent filter encourage people to study about the characteristic of this material. The flows through porous media occur in a wide variety of applications and some had involved with natural convective heat transfer. In this project, the prediction of natural convection through porous media in two-dimensional, laminar and incompressible fluid flow in square enclosure is present in this numerical investigation. The non-Darcy formulations of momentum which include both the inertial and viscous effect and the energy transport equations are solved by constrained interpolated profile method (CIP). The numerical results obtained are compared with benchmark solution to confirm the applicability of the model. The streamline, isotherm pattern and Nusselt number due to change of porosity and Rayleigh number were discussed. The results show that the model can be solved using CIP method.
