The findings of this study show that the level of Emotional Intelligence amongst the employees of Putrajaya Holdings Sdn. Bhd. (PjH) is average. Overall, the Emotional Intelligence (EQ) level is high in the Interpersonal Relationship, Social Responsibility, Reality Testing, Self Regards, and Self-Actualization components. In respect of the difference in the Emotional Intelligence (EQ) level based on the demographic factors, the study shows that generally there is no significant difference in the Emotional Intelligence (EQ) between gender, age, marital status, education, and monthly income; whilst there is a significant difference in terms of position. This study also shows that there exist a significant correlation between the Interpersonal Relationship component of Emotional Intelligence (EQ) and individual advancement in terms of performance achievement. Likewise there also exist a significant correlation between the Reality Testing component of Emotional Intelligence (EQ) and promotion as well as between the Self Regard, Self-Actualization, Empathy, and Flexibility components and individual advancement in terms of percentage increment in annual income of an employee. This study supports the findings that individual advancement of an employee at the work place would also depend on the said employee’s level of Emotional Intelligence (EQ) as both variables have significant correlations.
