Design of structural steelwork for medium rise building

Abstract

Design of Structural Steelwork for Medium Rise Building comprise of design calculations of building element such as beams, columns and connections using locally produced steel sections. This book, aimed principally at students of steelwork design whether they be undertaking courses in universities or polytechnics or having successfully completed this phase of their career, are working in practice and want to update their knowledge. Step by step calculation in the design of these elements is meant to make it easier for civil engineering students and young structural engineers. In writing this book the authors have benefited enormously from various forms in interaction with several organizations and individuals. These have included those responsible for the preparation and drafting of the book, lecturers of steelwork design, engineers in practice and seminars on either the new code or on steelwork design in general. Their cooperation and time is gratefully acknowledged. I t is our hope that this book will be used as a guide to those engineering students and young engineers.
